It’s always welcome when new companies come into the mix, especially the ones that come across much as the older ones did through the fansub circuit and finding a way to get involved in the actual business of anime. The latest addition is Crimson Star Media, a group based in Georgia that was founded, at least according to Facebook, back in March and has recently started making noise about their first announcement. They’ve been updating their page in the last few days with hints about what their first license will be and a lot of the guesses seem to focus on it being Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, a six episode show from 2006 from Group TAC and Pony Canyon, which works from the eight volume novel series that finished that same year.
One of the representatives also posted on the forum discussion about the company, saying “Believe me if the title we announce Saturday sells well I already have another license lined up that I think a lot of people will be happy about.”
Crimson Star Media looks to be announcing their title at SeshunCon this weekend and there is talk about doing a “professional fandub” with open auditions if the preorders hit a certain amount.
The company describes themselves as:
Crimson Star Media is a group of avid anime fans that started out working in fansub groups, subtitling and releasing anime every season as it aired. We loved anime so much that we decided to try our hand at getting into the industry. Crimson Star is still in the beginning stages and trying to raise capital. At the moment we are currently in contact with many various Japanese licensors for particular titles. Also we are trying our hardest to form partnerships with other pre-existing companies to help in our endeavors. We hope to bring some good news anime fans way very soon. So stay tuned.
