The Flash

Sometimes things can go too well when you get down to it and the plans for the approved backdoor pilot for The Flash by utilizing the character in three episodes of Arrow has done just that. With episodes eight and nine filmed which introduces us to Barry Allen as played by Grant Gustin, the show was going to go all out in episode twenty in giving us the powered up costumed character of The Flash. And based on reception there, they’d go and do a full on series the following fall season. Now that the CW execs have seen episodes eight and nine, they’re so primed for it that they’re going to do a full on pilot that would serve as the opening episode of the series rather than weighing it on on the Arrow series.

What happens with episode twenty of Arrow is a bit up in the air at the moment but the shows are intent on being connected to each other so it will build its own universe. Deadline describes the Barry Allen character thus:

On Arrow, Barry Allen (Gustin) is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
