Diabolik Lovers Episode 10

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Bringing Cordelia back into the show after the events of the past that we’ve seen is definitely a good thing since we see her in a different light based on what happened. Filtering it through Yui’s eyes and focusing on the way the boys were brought up definitely makes an impact. Bringing Richter into play at the end of the previous episode just adds to it since he has a definitely intriguing connection to Cordelia and we get some good nuggets early on here as they spar with each other, including noting that he fought with his brother over her and Richter was the one that obviously lost. That creates a certain kind of familiarity between the two to be sure, but also a kind of tension that’s really fun to watch. At least for the viewer as Ayato certainly doesn’t like it as he steps right into it to demand some answers.

Giving us Cordelia in Yui’s body is certainly disarming as it progresses since she’s such a different personality and carries herself in a very different way than we’re used to. It’s hard to reconcile to be sure, especially in the outfits, and that definitely makes for some fun moments as you can see how Yui could be a very different person. Seeing how Ayato handles the situation is certainly interesting since he wants to know what is really happening to Yui and has no interest in Cordelia, but we also see that others aren’t quite so forgiving of Yui herself when she’s back to normal for awhile, largely because she seems to come across as even more desirable through her blood. There’s a depth of deliciousness that obviously has the boys intrigued, and we learn that there’s a really dangerous aspect to it as well from Richter, who tells her of the dark fate that awaits them. But like most of the episodes, we’re still without an answer, a way for her to be saved, and that just adds to the oppressive nature of it all.

In Summary:
Events are certainly picking up here and this continues to be one of the fastest feeling series out there for me at this point, even noting the shorter than usual runtime. Something about this show just makes each episode flow by fast and leaves you savoring every bit of dialogue and every quiet moment, something that you can find yourself not doing in a lot of other shows with all the lack of substance to them. The story here takes some welcome turns to see unfold with Cordelia playing it up in Yui’s body, Richter having his fun along the way with his own goal and how some of the boys are coping with it overall. Definitely a lot to like here as we get closer to the finale.
