We’re seeing more and more promos in the last year for various manga series being done, either with stills and some voice over work or outright animated pieces to draw interest as well as to try and spur the feasibility of a full on show. The latest one to get an ad is Yugami-kun ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai, which translates as He Does Not Have Any Friends. The manga from Jun Sakura kicked off in the summer of 2012 and just recently had its third volume released. what makes this ad stand out a bit more is that it’s got A-1 Pictures producing the 30 second spot, which definitely gives it a leg up on the competition with a very slick looking presentation.
Plot concept: The story of the comedy manga revolves around Yūji Yugami and Chihiro Watanuki, who sit next to each other in class. Unfortunately for Chihiro, the transfer student Yūji is weird… extremely weird. Even though he’s the ace of the baseball club, he hasn’t adapted to the club at all. He also stands apart from the rest of the class, but seems completely satisfied with being alone.
