While the girls of Toei Robot Girls Z have been shilling for some older Toei properties that are coming out on Blu-ray lately, the main show itself is not being forgotten as Toei has released a new nearly two minute promo for this series. The work does a good bit of action elements to it as well as the opening song but it also spends some time giving us a couple of seconds to look at each of the girls with stills. The series takes characters from Toei and Dynamic Planning and changes the various giant robots into cute girls for wacky and silly adventures that will delight many and infuriate others. It’s being directed by Hiroshi Ikehata based on scripts by Kazuho Hyodo with Tetsuya Kawakami doing the character designs.
The series starrs Mariko Honda as Z-chan, Inori Minase as Gre-chan, Kazusa Aranami as Grenda-san, Aya Hisakawa as Ashura, Yukiko Morishita as Garada-chan (Garada K7), Nao Tōyama as Doublas-chan (Doublas M2) and Sota Arai as a shopkeeper.
Plot concept: The stars of the new Robot Girls Z series are Z-chan (a girl reimagining of Mazinger Z), Gre-chan (Great Mazinger), and Grenda-san (UFO Robo Grendizer). Together they (try to) defend Photon Power Town from the mechanical beast girls Doublas-chan and Garada-chan. The villains are led by Baron Ashura, the underground emperor bent on world domination — or at least, town domination.
