HatarakuWhile FUNimation announced the acquisition of just the streaming rights for The Devil is a Part Timer back in April so they could simulcast the show, they’ve been quiet about what they’ll be doing with it from there on. Simulcast rights don’t equal home video rights, but now some clues are landing that indicates they may be exercising an increase in their rights to the property as the series is now available in a download to own fashion from iTunes, in both standard definition and high definition in its original Japanese language. The HD set of 13 episodes is $17.99 while the SD version is just $7.99 to get it all. Usually this kind of pickup is a precursor to full home video rights being announced, particularly since the copyright information does indicate FUNimation as a licensor for the property.

Plot concept: Foiled by a hero when he’s inches away from conquering the world, the devil finds himself in modern-day Tokyo. With no real-world skills to speak of, the devil is forced to make ends meet flipping burgers at a fast food joint! To stall any further plans of world domination, the hero tracks the devil’s trail and takes on the lowly tasks of a telemarketer.
