Dragon Ball
Toei Animation has confirmed what has been a given for a bit considering some of this has already started to show on retail sites, but Manga Entertainment UK will be releasing Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT. The show is coming out kind of backwards as Dragon Ball GT will be released first with the first set landing on January 20th, 2014 and the second on March 17th, 2014. After that, the original series will start their box set runs later in the summer of 2014. All of it will be DVD only as expected.
Dragon Ball was originally broadcast back in 1986 to 1989 for 153 episodes total. Dragon Ball GT came a bit later in 1996 where it ran until late 1997 for a total of 64 episodes.
Dragon Ball: Bulma is a girl in search of the mystical dragonballs that when brought together grant any wish. In her search she bumps into the owner of one of these balls, a strange boy named Goku. The two then set off together, Bulma in search of the dragonballs and Goku on a quest to become stronger.
Dragon Ball GT: Goku, the hero who destroyed the evil of Frieza, Cell, and Buu in DBZ, learns that an old foe, Emperor Pilaf from DB has captured the 7 magical Black Star Dragon Balls, which, at the cost of the planet the balls are on, can grant any wish. Pilaf wishes that Goku is a child, and Goku becomes a child. In order to save both the planet and restore Goku to adulthood, Goku must allign himself with Trunks and his granddaughter Pan to find all 7 Balls all over the universe. Over time, they encounter foes like Baby, Super 17, and the invincible Shadow Dragons.
Taking place 10 years after the final Dragonball Z story, Pilaf finally manages to get all 7 dragonballs and makes a wish. Unfortunately for Pilaf, he gets flustered by the presence of Goku and wishes for Goku to be a child again so that Pilaf could “teach him a lesson.” Pilaf gets his wish, and Goku is off on an interstellar trip to gather the 7 “Black Star Dragonballs” that can reverse the wish and return him to adulthood.
