Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the September 2016 installment, Find Out is a twenty page story from creator Akiya Akira, who has four other works on the service. This is my first experience with their work and it’s definitely a lot of fun. Akiya’s art style feels a bit older to me, like something from the late 80’s or early 90’s based on the hair and facial design, but there’s also just a whole lot of appeal in his female character essentially looking “normal” for lack of a better word. She’s got some great curves, she’s not teeny and like a stick, and while she may have a lot going on up top it’s not so overdone as to be unbelievable. There’s a “real world-ness” about her that’s very appealing since it’s not entirely the usual traditional character design model. And that’s something welcome to have stand out when so many works feel so similar.
The premise behind this one gets a little more involved thanks to the extra pages as we get to meet kindergarten teacher Ibuki, a busty and attractive young woman who is dedicated to her job. Her boyfriend, Daichi, is the kind of guy that makes things all about him and he even gets into a little trouble watching her at work over the fence because the local cop thinks he’s a pervert. When the two are back at her place later that night, he makes it all about him and nothing else. While she does admit that he’s kind of below average in his mindset in some ways, she does love him and is willing to work through the things with him, if only he’d “get” it a bit more. So when he leaves, fairly dejected since she’s dismissive of him and his attitude, he ends up instead cooking her up a dinner because he felt bad while she was changing. This, in turn, leads to events that Daichi still doesn’t quite get.
Ibuki takes advantage of this to get a little revenge in a sense, at least at first, by getting him to do things for her for a change. The meal preparation was one thing but she gets him to feed her and then stick around to do the dishes. That turns into him bathing her so she doesn’t fall asleep in it and a couple of other bits of fooling around before she just makes it clear to him – cause he doesn’t get it – that she wants more from him. Though Daichi’s a bit of a dip all told throughout this, you can tell that she does care for him and he’s into her. And for good reason as she’s pretty attractive and I love the design work done with her since it feels non-standard and realistic in many ways. The more he does for her the more aroused she gets by it, which he doesn’t get, and when she wears her teacher apron to tease him a little more it becomes really erotic and fun as she starts to “get” it as to why he liked it.
In Summary
I had a whole lot of fun with this chapter and really quite liked Akiya’s artwork with the layouts, which are a bit more than the usual straightforward ones we get, and especially the character designs. Ibuki hits a certain sweet spot that avoids being the glamorous type that we get and instead we see her shine as her sexuality comes out through her confidence and enjoyment of the moments. Daichi is pretty comical to watch as he’s just a step or two, if that, above being a dullard as he really has no clue how to do right by this particular woman. The back and forth is amusing to watch and I loved the weirdness of him nearly getting picked up for watching kids at the school when he was really watching his hot girlfriend. That this chapter is twenty pages helps a whole lot in the pacing but also because it works the idea of sensuality at the start before going into the more hardcore action. Good stuff that I’m wanting to explore more of.
