Announced back in September on the official site for the upcoming PS Vita game Kantai Collection – Kan Colle, an anime adaptation will be landing in the summer of 2014. Now a bit more news has surfaced about the show in that studio diomedea will be handling the animation for the series while Keizo Kusakawa will be handling the directorial duties. Kusakawa has recently finished off the work on Akuma no Riddle so it’s an easy segue into this project next. He’ll be working off of scripts by Jukki Hanada for the project.
Kadokawa Games announced this at the September briefing that it’s part of the overall initiative with what the company is doing as it gets more of its works going. The game is based on the Kantai Collection browser game which re-imagines WWII-era warships as cute girls. The voice cast from the game will be used with the new adaptation.
While the anime is in the works, a manga has been ongoing since April which has been done by Ryota Momoi and anew adaptation debuted this past December as well.
