With just a few months until the debut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, 2014, things are progressing well with the film inside the studio it seems. With the test screenings underway and finalization of other materials in the mad dash to get it all done ahead of the press junket circuit, it appears that they’re going well enough that word is that the Anthony and Joe Russo are in early talks to come back for the third installment of the character series. There isn’t any date for the film yet, though it could go in either the 2016 or 2017 spots that Marvel has pegged out with no titles attached formally, and no finalization of a deal will be done until the film hits the theaters and they gauge reaction and box office. But setting the talks early is a show of confidence in the work itself as well as making it easier to greenlight the next feature and move on it quickly.
The Russo brothers were one of many surprising picks coming from Marvel Studios as they had done a lot of work on the TV series Community, which had many wondering if they could step up to a big budget feature that’s action based but also, as we’ve seen heavy on the thriller/political side as well.
