Oneechan ga Kita

Oneechan ga Kita

Apparently everyone but the right kids have older sisters.

What They Say:
Tomoya’s father remarries to another woman, giving him a stepsister, Ichika. However Ichika is 17-years old and has completely fallen in love with her stepbrother who is only 13!! Families will collide in the most unusual fashion this season, in the new anime short: ONEE-CHAN GA KITA!

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Giving Ichika some friends definitely made for some good comedy the last time around, especially since one is an enabler and the other tries to stem the problem. For Tomoya, his problem continues to be not just Ichika but his friends who can’t believe his luck. This causes some rivalries of course, such as with the smart kid Hayasaka who messes with Tomoya and his friend, leading to a bit of a schoolyard fight. Poor Hayasaka though as his own sister is a tough cookie who is actually related to Ruri-ruri, who puts him in his place. It’s the kind of tie that’s brought in that makes everything far more complicated but makes it so that we have a good sized cast that can bounce in and out to cause trouble.

In Summary:
Overpopulating a series can be a dangerous thing and this series is already close to doing that, especially since we’re getting a lot of varied sibling material coming in. You have to feel for Tomoya as his world must seem like it’s closing in around him, but also for Ichika as she doesn’t get much screen time this episode and that disappoints me. It is cute and I like what Hayasaka can potentially bring to the table as a difficult friend to get involved with, but it also keeps Ruri-ruri in the picture and if she can keep enabling Ichika, it’s all good.
