Philip Seymour Hoffman
At age 46, Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in a Greenwich Village home Sunday morning according to police reports. The cause of death is still under investigation.
Hoffman began is career as an actor in the 1991 TV series Law & Order as a guest role before moving to features in smaller parts. It was in 1997 that he gained more recognition in Boogie Nights where he got a few nominations for his performance. His further noteworthy roles included Happiness, Flawless and Magnolia before gaining more recognition in Almost Famous in 2000. His more recognized role was in the 2005 film Capote as well as the 2008 film Doubt. He won numerous awards for the 2012 film The Master and spent the last two years taking part in The Hunger Games films as Plutarch Heavensbee.
Hoffman had a history of drug issues that he talked about back in 2006 when he publicly admitted that he nearly succumbed to substance abuse graduating from NYU’s drama school, but got sober in rehab. “It was all that (drugs and alcohol), yeah. It was anything I could get my hands on…I liked it all,” he told “60 Minutes” as the time.
