Originally debuting in July 2013, Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories will get a second season this coming summer according to the official site. The show, which highlights various horror stories of Japanese origin in four and a half minutes, met with mixed reactions when the first thirteen episode season debuted. The series is one that definitely has appeal as it can bring in an interesting array of creatives to work on it as this new season will include Takashi Shimizu, Noboru Iguchi and Shoichiro Masumoto to participate.
No dates or times have been set yet, but the first season will be rebroadcast this coming April in Japan to get people excited for it again. You can see our thoughts on the first few episodes here. Crunchyroll simulcast the series when it originally aired.
Plot concept: Yamishibai is a picture-story style of animation whose motif is surrounded and based off the rumors, and urban legends throughout the history of Japan.
