For a certain segment of fans, can the pilot for The Flash get any more intriguing or amazing? While no role is associated with the casting, it’s been revealed that John Wesley Shipp has boarded the project in a position that could be a regular/semi-regular if it gets picked up to series. The series is going through the pilot process at the moment, launching from what has occurred in Arrow so far, and the majority of the actors cast have been for roles being adapted from the comics. Speculation can run all over the map for Shipp’s role, though there seems to be a good chance he could play one of the other speedsters in some form that could come later, such as Jay Garrick or even Max Mercury depending on how it’s written. With Arrow having learned really good ways to adapt and rework characters for the small screen while keeping their essence there, it’s potentially a big coup to grab Shipp for the show for more than just an honorary type of guest appearance.

Shipp is known to more people for his role in Dawson’s Creek as well as his time spent on numerous soap operas in the 1980′s, but for comic book fans he was one of those early pioneers that was trying to do comic book TV when it had a really hard time being accepted. He starred as the title character in the original The Flash series as well as working in the Human Target TV series. He’s largely done smaller roles here and there on TV since, though he did spend an bit of time playing Professor Zoom in the animated series Batman: Brave and the Bold. He was also recently in Teen Wolf.
