With an April 21st, 2014 filming start date for Terminator: Genesis and plans for a TV series as well, casting has been on the mind lately for the Alan Taylor helmed feature. We learned earlier that we’ll be seeing Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke as John Connor in the future. Now we’ve got another piece of the puzzle as Jai Courtney is taking on the role of Kyle Reese. Courtney was one of several people testing hard for it and winning out over Boyd Holbrook in the end. Courtney has a number of roles under his belt in the last couple of years since he came to attention after a strong performance in Spartacus with films like A Good Day to Die Hard and Jack Reacher. He’s set for the role of Eric in the upcoming Divergent film.
According to past information, the TV series will follow a critical moment from the original 1984 Terminator movie, taking it in a completely different direction that the film. Plot details about the upcoming Terminator movie are being kept under wraps, but it too is expected to be tied to the first movie. As the rebooted film trilogy and the new television series progress, the two narratives will be designed to intersect with each other.
The film is set for a July 1st, 2015 release with a supporting TV series planned as well. The film will be directed by Alan Taylor.
