Noragami Volume 1
With ten volumes out in Japan, this release may be a bit on the cusp for a pickup, but Kodansha Comics has signed the deal that will have them bringing Noragami to North American retailers and fans this fall. The series by Toka Adachi has been running in Monthly Shounen Magazine since December 2010 and there are ten volumes so far. It doesn’t hurt that it’s getting a solid adaptation in anime form this season by Bones with a simulcast by FUNimation that’s expected to turn into a home video pickup as well, keeping the title alive for awhile. Kodansha Comics has set a fall release but nothing more specific than that at the moment.
Plot concept: Yato is a stray god. He doesn’t even have a shrine, not to mention worshipers! Hoping he’ll eventually raise enough money to build himself the lavish temple of his dreams, Yato accepts all kinds of jobs. Of course, he can’t afford to be picky; from finding lost kittens to helping a student overcome bullies, no job is too small for Yato, the god-for-hire! An eccentric story with a charming cast of characters!
