Speculation abounded at the beginning of February when the YuruYuri official site updated to reveal that a new anime project was in the works for 2014. While hopes were high for a third season of the series, the more expected and pragmatic piece was revealed that it will be a new OVA. The project is planned for a 2014 release still and they’re taking the approach of a lot of OVAs these days by getting it a limited theatrical event run ahead of its formal release. No dates are announced yet nor whether the same production team will return, though it’s expected that the voice actors will return.
Two series have come about so far for the slice of life manga which were simulcast on Crunchyroll with NIS America picking them up for Blu-ray releases along with Hulu distribution.
Plot concept: Right after starting middle school, Akari Akaza joins the Amusement Club which is composed solely by her two childhood friends, Kyouko Toshinou and Yui Funami. Chinatsu Yoshikawa, Akaza’s classmate, becomes a member after finding out about the dissolution of the Tea Club.
The Amusement Club, situated at the tea room facility since the Tea Club disbanded, has no clear purpose, being free for the girls to do whatever they want.
