Everyone looks up to Ayaka. She’s one of the most beautiful professors at the academy, with bright eyes, big breasts, and a brilliant smile. But she’s got a tough side, too: she’s coach of the Karate Club. Treat her well, and you’ll be rewarded with all sorts of sexy favors… but get on her bad side, and you’ll be flat on your back in no time.
So far, there’s only been one guy bold enough to anger Ayaka: a brash new student named Togawa. One night, he finds Ayaka having a one-woman orgy in the gym shower room and decides to step in. Will Ayaka’s temper flare up once again, or will she be swept up by her lustful desires?

Audio:
The audio presentation for this release brings us the original Japanese language track as well as the previously created English language adaptation, both of which are encoded at 224kbps. Both tracks are pretty much standard fare in that they’re stereo mixes with little in the way of anything resembling directionality. Dialogue is essentially full sounding with only the music really seeming like it’s using the left and right channels to any effect. With this being mostly a dialogue show, it’s not a big deal at all. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no problems with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.

Originally released in 2004, the transfer for this single OVA is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. With only one episode on here and little else, there’s plenty of space for everything. The transfer, in general, is a good looking on with solid colors and hardly anything in the way of blocking or noise. The main problem, one that’s source related I’m sure, is that there is a fair bit of chroma noise/dot crawl in the red top that Ayaka wears throughout it. Some scenes are more distracting with it than others but it’s prevalent throughout. Cross coloration is very minimal otherwise as is aliasing which leaves only that one issue for the show.
Packaging:
The presentation for this release mirrors what we had before with a minor banding change along the bottom as we get a standard sized DVD case. The front cover gives us a pretty familiar image of Ayaka in her outfit as it’s pulled open to let the girls be free. Tied along the top and covered in fun, Ayaka has that slightly panicked/fearful look to her that sets the tone fairly well The colors and layout works well and it’s certainly an obvious looking cover yet an appealing one as well. The back cover mixes things up a bit with a combination of school paper for the summary that’s laying on top of the wooden floor for the karate area. Add in shots from the show done as pictures laying on it, right out of a scene from the show, and it all comes together nicely. I especially liked that on the white paper there are line art gallery images that look like doodles. The summary covers the basics and the discs features and technical information are all clearly listed. No insert is included nor is there a reversible cover.
Menu:
The menu design takes the cover artwork and zooms in slightly but also reveals what the original cover looked like. Ayaka’s position there is certainly one that works but it works just a bit better with some of her bra pulled away to add a bit more to her situation. Along one of the lockers is the navigation strip with a lock used as the navigation icon and there is a bit of foreboding instrumental music associated with it. The layout is quick and easy to navigate and the disc read our players’ language presets without issue.
Extras:
The extras are about what you generally get on Critical Mass titles in that there’s a line art gallery as well as a brief round of dub outtakes. With less show to this one compared to others, there isn’t a lot of room for outtakes but they do have a bit of fun here.

There’s a long line of titles out there in Japan that only made it to their first episode, especially those part of the Vanilla Series that tried a whole lot of different things. T&A Teacher is one of those in that you can imagine they had grand plans for the series but it just didn’t click well enough to make more. While I do prefer shows that have a bit more meat to them, I admit to a certain fondness for these low commitment shows if they’re priced right. Critical Mass generally does that with these while still including a dub, and when you get down to re-release time like this, it can be pretty easy and affordable to check out.
T&A Teacher is an amusing if dark show that once again revolves around the school setting. The central character is Ayaka, a beauty of a teacher with large breasts, great looking eyes and a real zest for sex. She’s able to get away with some fooling around in the school due to her father being the chairman so she tends to push the limits a bit. Such things include her doubling as an instructor for the karate club where she jerks off some of the male students over their clothes. Her father disapproves but membership in the club doubled when she took over as the instructor. Add in that she generally has a very voracious and positive attitude about sex and she becomes something of a real draw for the boys and men in the school.
As much free love as Ayaka seems to practice, she’s also got a quick temper. When she’s crossed, she doesn’t hold back. A new student in the school named Togawa has an attitude that just ticks her off. He’s late to class and rude which is bad enough but when she confronts him on it in front of the class he just starts fondling her breasts and laughing about it. Suffice to say she promptly kicks his ass. This naturally leads to a need for revenge by Togawa and Ayaka makes it incredibly easy for him to do so. He just happens to wander in while she’s in the shower room at the school getting herself off. Making sure to get some appropriate photos of the event, he works his revenge on her and uses it to start a chain of events that… will happen in an episode that will never be animated.
The show doesn’t have a lot of characters to it so there aren’t exactly a lot of designs here for variety. Ayaka is the only women to actually have sex here and her design is decent but it’s not really striking. She has the short hair and spunky look to her as well as a bit of a design that feels like it goes back to some older shows. Togawa’s your typical tough guy and his design along with the other men are fairly unmemorable. The animation is decent throughout and there isn’t much in the way of repeated sequences. Everything comes across as competent and well done but nothing really stands out. There’s potential for more if the show ever had more episodes but as it stands it’s a decent standalone piece.
In Summary:
T&A Teacher is like a lot of school based shows that, for better or worse, has that mix of brutality and fun that’s surprising at times. Ayaka’s plucky attitude is fun at first and the way she messes with her students works well, but she balances that, sometimes too much, with the quick bursts of violence that only get her into more trouble. Critical Mass’ release looks decent here for the most part but the chroma issue and dot crawl could be a real problem for some. It does go for the whole dark and controlling aspect with a lot of non-consensual material along the way which can be difficult for a lot of people to watch. But it fits with what’s going on here and the kind of things that both Ayaka and Togawa end up involved in.
