No Game No Life

No Game No Life

Set for an April 9th, 2014 debut, we’ve known about No Game No Life being made into an anime since last summer and got our first taste of it in promo form back in December. Now, after a long quiet stretch with just a few images surfacing, a new TV spot that clocks in at thirty seconds has landed. The piece brings us a good taste of the opening song as well by Konomi Suzuki. The anime adapts the light novels of the same name by Yuu Kamiya. Kamiya’s name should be a bit familiar as he was behind the art on A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives and began this series with himself as the writer and artist. Five volumes have been released so far and a manga adaptation began back in January with Mashiro Hiiragi handling the artwork for it.

The cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Sora, Ai Kayano as Shiro, Yoko Hikasa as Stephanie Dora, Yukari Tamura as Jibril, Yuka Iguchi as Clammy Shell, Mamiko Noto as Feel Nilvalen, Miyuki Sawashiro as Izuna Hatsuse and Rie Kugimiya as Teto.

Plot Concept: The internet is full of rumors about the Neet and Hikikomori genius gamer siblings Sora and Shiro. The two go as far as to refer to the world as a “shit game”, but then one day a young man calling himself “God” summons them to a parallel universe. There, God has forbidden war, and “everything is to be settled with games”. Yes, even the national borders. Driven into a corner by other species, the ‘human species’ is down to its last city. Can Sora and Shiro, these related failures of society, become the saviors of humankind in this parallel world?
