arpeggio-episode-12The promotional push for Arpeggio of Blue Steel in general has been strong from the folks at Flying Dog as they’ve made every effort to ensure that people know what’s coming with it. While the series has finished up, the home video release on Blu-ray and DVD got underway on March 7th and the folks at production studio Flying Dog are providing a look at various aspects of it and the show itself. The show is getting a six disc release on both DVD and Blu-ray where the Blu-rays are priced at 6825 yen and the DVDs at 5775 yen each. The first volume is set to come with a series box for it, at least from Amazon Japan, while CD Japan is listing that the first Blu-ray release, which has two episodes, will also come with a bonus CD for the original soundtrack for the first volume, a booklet, an illustrated card set, three photo cards and a new digipak illustraiton. The only on-disc extra right now is the promo video collection. CD Japan is also listing through them an extra bonus of a 2013 special calendar for the series.

Known as Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio in Japan, the series is based on the manga by Ark Performance, which has seven volumes on hand so far in Japan, the new show is being directed by Seiji Kishi based on scripts by Makoto Uezu.

Plot Concept: In the story, a Fleet of Fog loaded with super weapons suddenly appear all over the world. Without the ability to withstand this fleet, humanity was defeated and could no longer travel the seas. 17 years after the devastating naval war, Chihaya Gunzou and his friends somehow commandeer a Fleet of Fog submarine and rename it I-401. Together with Iona, they take on the Fleet of Fog.
