Clik here to view. With the release having hit a couple of weeks ago, Pony Canyon has a new spot out to promote the 90′s OVA series Honoo no Tenkousei. The title is localized as Blazing Transfer Student. The new spot from Pony Canyon goes into, briefly, what the set includes and plays up the limited nature of it. Produced by Gainax and Studio Fantastia with Youmex, it was directed by Katsuhiko Nishijima based on the manga by Kazuhiko Shimamoto which ran for twelve volumes between 1983 and 1985 in Shounen Sunday. The release landed on March 19th, 2014 and is priced at 8,400 yen. Interestingly, the show skipped the DVD format and went from VHS and Laserdisc to this new Blu-ray release.
The OVA is being remastered from the original 35mm original negative. There look to be some good extras included with this such as a message from the original director, materials from Hideako Anno and the clean opening and closing sequences as well as bundling A CD with it that has the original soundtrack and the original drama.
New materials include a 150 page color booklet.
Plot concept: Transfer student Takisawa Noboru quickly learns that all disputes at his new school are settled in the boxing ring. Now he finds himself in a series of showdowns with the local top dog, Ibuki Saburo, for the love and respect of the beautiful Yukari.
