Kimagure Orange Road
While things slacked off after the initial release of Kimagure Orange Road on the Kindle platform by the Japanese owners, it looks like we might see a little more traction now that the first volume is slated for an April 4th, 2014 digital release on eManga.com. The eighteen volume series has long been sought after for a full and officially translated release since the anime was picked up in the 90′s by AnimEigo where it got VHS, LD and DVD releases for the OVAs, movie and TV series. The eManga.com pickup doesn’t equate to a physical form release, though we’re hoping it does.
The series is written by Izumi Matsumoto and was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump. It gained fame with the anime adaptation that was produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by veteran animator Osamu Kobayashi with character designs by Akemi Takada and scripts by Kenji Terada.
Plot Concept: Teenage romance meets fantasy in this series as a love triangle develops between the main character, an indecisive esper named Kyōsuke Kasuga, Madoka Ayukawa, a mercurial and enigmatic girl with a tough past, and Hikaru Hiyama, Madoka’s ditzy and energetic best friend. Kyōsuke falls in love with Madoka, and Madoka wants to return those feelings, but can not because of Hikaru’s involvement with Kyōsuke.
