The season finale for The Walking Dead brought about the first TV spot for the July 11th, 2014 release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and it was definitely the right place to put it since it fit in so well with the themes. The spot provides us with thirty seconds of some very familiar looking apes and the kind of narration that makes it clear the advantages that they have over humanity. in addition to that, a new character poster has been released which you can see to the right in larger form by clicking on it. The film is being directed by Matt Reeves and will star Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. It has a $120 million budget, a nearly $30 million increase over Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but expected as that film brought in nearly $480 million theatrically worldwide and was a surprise hit for many.
Plot concept: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
