It may not seem like it, but the July 11th, 2014 release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be here before we know it and that’s only going to accelerate as the marketing effort ramps up. The latest bit to come down for those interested in the film is a series of new images from the feature which gives us a good look at a lot of the apes themselves, and a couple of humans along the way. The film is being directed by Matt Reeves and will star Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. It has a $120 million budget, a nearly $30 million increase over Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but expected as that film brought in nearly $480 million theatrically worldwide and was a surprise hit for many.
Plot concept: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
