Sakura Wars The Movie
After announcing the acquisition of Sakura Wars: The Movie back in the beginning of June, FUNimation is essentially fast-tracking the release of it by their schedule standards as the DVD/BD feature now has an October 22nd, 2013 release date. The DVD/BD combo release will be priced at $34.95 with features and technical details to be announced. The movie did get a Japanese release recently, as it was announced back in August of 2012 and saw release in January 2013. That release had some extras on it, such as a press conference, commercials and the like, which was mirroring what the Japanese DVD release was like way back in 2002.
Plot Concept: The Imperial Fighting Troupe is called again to defend Tokyo against the demons. However, this time, the Douglas-Stewart Company is selling a new type of Fighting mecha that will revolutionize Japan’s defense. A superior fighting machine that will make the Flower Division obsolete. However, the girls suspect something when members of their team begin to vanish. But what can they do when their division has been placed on indefinite stand-by status?
