Madman Entertainment has made a new pickup this week as they’ve acquired the rights to Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha for release in Australia. FUNimation simulcast the series previously and picked up the rights to it for the ten episodes that it ran. The series is based off of the 2010 manga series of the same name by Morohe Yoshida. It’s currently got seven volumes published in Japan. The manga series is the first full ongoing title from the creator after doing the Star Ocean 2 Second Evolution adaptation. The series is being directed by Toru Takahashi, who has largely done just episode direction and storyboards over the years. Of note, he was an episode director on ten episodes of Revolutionary Girl Utena and did some work on Azumanga Daioh as well. The series is being adapted and scripted by Touko Machida who has a very extensive list of credits across numerous shows from Karneval to Lucky Star and some Sayuki material. The animation is being done by Production IMS, marking htis as their first full on production after assisting on Fantasista Doll and Mushibugyo.
Plot concept: Inari is a cheerful girl in Kyoto who has a crush on one of the coolest guys in her middle school, but she can’t seem to confess her feelings to him. After saving a beautiful goddess’s familiar, the deity blesses Inari with the ability to shapeshift—much to the chagrin to the rest of the spiritual world. Will love bloom for the newly empowered girl when the spirits intervene?
