Kindaichi Case Files
With a new resurgence in popularity as the new anime adaptation arrives in the form of Kindaichi Case Files Returns, it’s not a surprise that Kodansha has a few spinoff manga that have been in the works to capitalize on it. The long running property gets its first spinoff series in the June issue of Magazine Special w which will be drawn by Yuki Sato as it focuses on the longtime character of detective Akechi Kengo. In addition to that, Kindaichi Case Files: The Mini-Vacation will debut next week on the digital Manga Box site that Kodansha runs which will be done by Seimaru Amagi, Fumiya Sato and artist Awabako that goes for the fun side of things. This release is designed to pick up the slack by the end of the other spinoff series that’s been running for a bit by Seimaru Amagi and Fumiya Sato that dealt wit the character of Takato.
TOKYOPOP released over a dozen volumes of the original manga during the manga revolution that occurred in the early 2000′s here with manga being released property in right to left form, though the series never had a sizable audience. The new anime adaptation is currently being simulcast by Crunchyroll.
Series concept: With the genius-level reasoning ability he inherited from his grandfather Kousuke Kindaichi, Hajime Kindaichi has solved a great number of very difficult cases. But he is just a regular high school student. Though he wants to get closer to his childhood friend Miyuki, he can’t manage to make a move on her because no matter where they go, a terrible crime always occurs! Kindaichi hardens his resolve and invites her on a one-night mini-vacation! “This time it’ll work for sure!” he says to himself. As goes without saying, this manga is a comedy spinoff of the popular work Kindaichi Case Files!
