With Lucky Penny setting the release of Ah My Buddha! for June 3rd, 2014 recently, they’re now bringing out the show to YouTube for fans to sample ahead of time to see if it’s their cup of tea. The sampling that was added today includes the first two episodes of the series with both a subtitled version and a dubbed version. The series is coming out with the full twenty-six episode run that will be priced at $34.99. The bilingual release will be DVD only but it will include the clean versions of the opening and closing sequences as well as promotional videos. To help get the awareness out there about this rescue, a new promotional trailer has arrived that has some fun with the cast of characters.
The show was originally broadcast in Japan in 2005 and 2006 and was released by Media Blasters in 2009 before going for a full collection in 2010, which is the last it was out. The series came from them at a time when they were producing fewer dubs but this one managed to get one, to good effect at that. The series was originally named Amaenaide yo!! in Japan.
The series features animation by Studio DEEN (Fate/Stay night, Is This a Zombie?) and direction by Keitaro Motonaga (Jormungand, Yumeria).”
Plot concept: Ikkou is your everyday teenage boy with everyday teenage desires. Too bad he’s training to be a priest in a Buddhist temple full of incredibly gorgeous and obviously available priestesses. The temple is usually called on to perform exorcisms, and Ikkou’s inner power is on hand for whenever things get out of control. A little flash of skin (usually a lot) from his female colleagues is enough to supercharge him, but the aftermath involves dealing with an extra turned-on priest whose loins were blazing to begin with. It’s enough to make anyone cry out for Buddha to save them.
