Anticipation for this second film continues to be pretty interesting to watch after the surprise nature of the first film and the way it’s worked the story so far, blending the end days of man with the rise of the apes and painting it as something relevant to today is working quite well. With a bit of time to go before the July 11th, 2014 release, Fox has released the second full length trailer and it definitely looks on track to be a great summer film with more than just a superficial story to it.
The film is being directed by Matt Reeves and will star Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. It has a $120 million budget, a nearly $30 million increase over Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but expected as that film brought in nearly $480 million theatrically worldwide and was a surprise hit for many.
Plot concept: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
