With fourteen volumes released so far and a twenty-six episode TV series that was broadcast in 2013, it’s not a surprised that we’re going to see more Mushibugyo. The manga from Hiroshi Fukuda has been going on for awhile and now it’s been announced that it’s getting an OVA series that will be bundled with special edition releases. No set count has been revealed for it at the moment, but the first one is scheduled to release with the fifteenth volume that’s going to be released on July 18th, 2014. The opening episode in this series has them returning from Kishu to their main setting of Edo and something surprising will be waiting for them there. The releases are slotted to be DVD only releases as of this writing.
Plot concept: The action story is set in Edo-era Tokyo in the early 1700s. The eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered boxes to be installed so commoners can submit their thoughts. After hearing their voices, the shogun creates a new magistrate unit—Mushibugyou—to protect the people in the heart of the city. Each member is a specialist with unique fighting skills.
