Done with a bit of intentional style and tone as the Tweet that contained the image really feels like an ad for the Leica Camera M M Monochrom, we’ve got our first look at what the new Batman suit will look like in the still untitled Batman/Superman film that’s due out on May 3rd, 2016. It’s pretty much expected that that’s actually Ben Affleck in the suit as they do some on set samples and tests alongside the new Batmobile, which was teased lightly yesterday. Longtime Batman fans will delve into the details to be sure, but we’re definitely liking the smaller ears used along the top and the muscular approach to the outfit as well that, at least through this bit of lensing, definitely gives us the grizzled feeling that they said they want to go with.

According to Snyder, he’s long wanted to do a Batman film and the opportunity to do so certainly made sense in the bigger picture, especially since it’s something new for both franchise. “Once you say, “What about Batman?” then you realize, “Okay, that’s a cool idea. What else?” I mean, what do you say after that? …But I’m not gonna say at all that when I took the job to do Man of Steel that I did it in a subversive way to get to Batman. I really believe that only after contemplating who could face [Superman] did Batman come into the picture.”
