While things have largely been quiet since the Youth Health Development Ordinance went into effect back in 2010 with what will be dealt with in terms of restrictions, that’s changed this week as the first title has been affected directly by it. While there has been some pull back by authors and publishers voluntarily to avoid bigger issues, the Imoto Paradise! 2 manga has apparently crossed the line for the government body as the series has been designated as an “unhealthy publication” due to its “glorification of incestuous acts” within the series.
According to ANN, bookstores will be prohibited from selling or renting the book to minors younger than 18 years old, or allowing them to browse the book. To that end, bookstores will be legally obligated to separate and place the book in an adult section
The series comes from mangaka Sekizaki Mikage as it adapts the visual novel game of the same name, which also had a two part OVA adaptation. Kadokawa publishes the manga adaptation but have not received any formal notice themselves, so nothing has changed in their approach at the moment.
Plot concept: It’s summer vacation and Keiichi’s parents left him with his five younger sisters to go on an overseas trip. Now with their parents far out of the picture, his younger sisters are aggressively making their moves on him. Of course there’s no way he can hold back.
