With a growing slate of diverse science fiction, fantasy and genre shows in development, one of the shows that will likely get a good push as we get closer to its November 2014 debut is Ascension. With Tricia Helfer set to star, it’s set as a six hour miniseries event that plays to the past and present with an interesting science fiction twist. As their Upfront this week, Syfy produced the first teaser for the project. The show is written and exec produced by Philip Levens of Smallville fame and will be prouced in Montral by Sea to Sky Studios and Blumhouse Productions.
Plot concept: Ascension is set onboard starship Ascension. In 1963, the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.
