The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With a lot of focus on Ange in the last couple of episodes, the nuts side of the series picked up pretty well and we finally got a character that stood out. Not exactly in a positive way, but considering the bland and largely forgettable cast we had so far, giving us someone like Ange definitely worked, even if they did want to play with the gender mystery aspect on top of everything else. But beyond that, there wasn’t a lot to really latch onto with those episodes, even if it was fun to see the various reactions everyone had to Ange and the way they were trying to figure out what Ange is. It also didn’t hurt that the show once again had some great animation sequences for the combat, making a solid Wulgaru encounter all the more enjoyable.

With Izuru out of action after the events of the last fight, the show has some of the expected elements going into this episode with repairs underway and a general sense of camaraderie that’s been improving once the group graduated from the academy side of things. The first half of the episode deals fairly well with this kind of material as it moves amongst the characters and as we see Izuru going through his recovery phase and being pretty chipper and even rather boyish about it all in a cute and adorable way. That has some of the girls a bit concerned about him since he’s coming across as a bit more outgoing than he usually does, but it’s just idle high school at best kind of chatter and material within the trappings of a military outfit that’s pretty lax.

Because of what Izuru is going through, events do lead towards a new combat mission as the Wulgaru are on the attack since they’re pretty much intent on taking down these kids whose harmonics are above and beyond the norm. That proves once again to be the highlight of the episode as we see some really good action sequences, both in choreography and animation, as it moves about in a few different ways, including some neat virtual sequences. What becomes amusing about it all is that as the battle progresses and we see familiar styles of attacks and methods that the kids use, it’s something that throws off the Wulgaru as it’s an approach that they aren’t familiar with, or as they say at one point, a different set of principles. Which will cause them to reevaluate things.

In Summary:
Majestic Prince pretty much does more of the same here as it rolls through some minor character material, a few hints of the larger storyline and then just lots of action. While Ange has had more time recently, that’s reduced a lot here and it’s a bit more of an ensemble piece with a bit of a focus on Izuru. But by and large, there’s not a lot of here to be had here, though it has a couple of decent bits throughout the action side and some realizations by the Wulgaru that their opponents may not be playing by the same rules. Which certainly wouldn’t be a surprise.
