While the manga will be ending shortly, the time is ripe to announce the final projects for Initial D in anime form. The manga, which has been running since 1995, has had multiple anime adaptations over the years while the manga itself has done solidly and appealed to the region in which it takes place as well. The property even had a live action adaptation along the way. According to Comic Natalie, a new feature has been announced for release in 2014 with more details hitting on July 26th during an event for Young Magazine, which will be showing footage of it. A fourteen episode series was released from the fall of 2012 through the spring of 2013 via Animax PPV and it also looks like a new TV series will arrive called Initial D: Final Stage, which will work through the final battles of the manga.
Series concept: High school student Takumi Fujiwara works as a gas station attendant during the day and a delivery boy for his father’s tofu shop during late nights. Little does he know that his precise driving skills and his father’s modified Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno make him the best amateur road racer on Mt. Akina’s highway. Because of this, racing groups from all over the Gunma prefecture issue challenges to Takumi to see if he really has what it takes to be a road legend.
