Kadokawa is going to torment North American fans with their upcoming release of Record of Lodoss War as the new promotional videos shows off just how much of a difference the remastering is going to make. The series, which is currently unlicensed in North America but is much beloved by older anime fans as one of the gateway series from their role playing days, has two new promotional videos for the box set. It’s getting a Blu-ray box set in Japan for the first time on November 29th, for the price of 39,990 yen, which fits with what Kadokawa considers one of their crown jewel titles that deserves a lavish production. And going by the set as seen on Amazon Japan, it definitely looks like it is with a new custom box, two discs for the thirteen OVA episodes and a two hundred page full color book with all sorts of illustrations and more.
Definitely a release we hope someone is able to mirror over here after it comes out in Japan.
Plot concept: Lodoss, the accursed island, has seen wars ravage its kingdoms for thousands of years. Now comes an evil beyond any it has ever faced before, and a party of six are drawn together in battle. Six who barely know each other, but who are destined to become heroes as they encounter enemies and allies beyond their wildest imaginations.
