Set for release on January 29th, 2014, we’ll be treated to the 20th anniversary release of DNA². The 12 episode series and three OVAs that followed are being released on DVD in wide release for 17850yen from Bandai Visual. The DVD release will come with a card illustration set for the VHS/LD release artwork and a new booklet.
Unfortunately, while the show is getting a Blu-ray release, it’s part of the Bandai Visual Club program, so it won’t get a wide release just yet. That release is due out the same day for club members that purchase it for 18900 yen. The release will include the same artwork card set but on disc extras include storyboards, clean opening and closing and eyecatches as well as a digital gallery. The box set will come with a new illustration by Satoshi Yamazaki.
The release is being promoted to tie in with Katsura Masakazu’s recently popularity by being the original character designer for Tiger & Bunny.
Plot concept: Karin, a DNA operator from the future, is on a mission to change the course of History by stopping Junta Momonari from becoming the Mega-Playboy who fathered 100 children and led to the overpopulation of the world. But Junta is no playboy; in fact he is allergic to girls. But when Karin shoots him with the wrong DNA-altering bullet, he starts sporadically becoming the Mega-Playboy capable of charming any woman. Karin must try to restore the situation to normal before the change to Mega-Playboy becomes irreversible.
