Sparrow's Hotel Episode 12

Sparrow’s Hotel Episode 12

The season draws to a close, though the hotel is always open.

What They Say:
The series revolves around Sayuri Satō, the new front desk worker at the Sparrow’s Hotel — “the closest hotel to Heaven.” Her special features are her large breasts and her skills of assassination. She takes down people who cause trouble in the business hotel with those skills, but she is in fact very unskilled when talking to the male hotel manager, and often bites her tongue.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With wishes placed on the tree, we get to have some cute bits early on about how each of the characters have their own desires, though I think the manager has the best wish only to have it go horribly wrong when it comes to how her brother interprets it. When it comes to Sayuri, she has no wishes since she’s got everything she wants in life with her job, though that kind of belief has others frustrated with her since it’s so above it all in the way. It’s a cute bit with a bit of an odd feeling to it as it plays out and Sayuri comes across as having some big secrets and desires that she’s not revealing, but instead of going for comedy it goes for action and a touch of lightness.

In Summary:
Sparrow’s Hotel has been an odd series from the start with what it does and the ending really is no different when you get down to it. It starts off with some mild and fun comedy and then just goes in a variety of directions in a short amount of space that never is fleshed out enough or feels like it works. The concept of the show is one that I like and even the runtime is something that it can use to its advantage, but it’s weak on the animation and the actual execution, which keeps it from being an enjoyable show in general and especially consistently. It’s an interesting idea that just didn’t gel together properly.
