R.I.P.D.

Universal has let loose with the home video details for R.I.P.D., one of the bigger flops of the some as the $130 million budget film hit only $64 million worldwide in theatrical revenues. Likely to be similar to a number of other films that were crucified in theaters, I expect it’ll find a solid home video life as well as various premium channel broadcasts as it goes on as people check out what all the bad reviews were about and find that it’s not that bad. It’s essentially a close Men in Black film, but it has its own charms and it’s a feature I rather enjoyed as a light hearted romp this summer that didn’t overstay its runtime, which is something too many films seem to do these days.

R.I.P.D. will be available to own on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD October 29, 2013.  The film will also be available early on Digital HD October 15, 2013, two weeks before it’s available on store shelves from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

However, upon uncovering a plot that could end life as we know it, the new duo have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork to restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife spill angry souls onto Earth.
