One of the more surprising announcements from the San Diego Comic Con for many came when the Arrow TV producers revealed that the character of The Flash, aka Barry Allen, would be appearing in their series. The character is slated to appear in the eighth, ninth and twentieth episodes of the season and will be spun out into his own show for the fall of 2014 if all goes well. The introduction of the character, likely to not be powered in these episodes at least at the start, is a shift in dynamic for the TV universe that is also now getting whispers of being able to connect to the DC theatrical movies as well, which is a good way of expanding things.
But with Arrow set to premiere on October 9th, they’ll be filming some of these upcoming Barry Allen episodes soon. And that means casting must be done as there’s a start date for filming, so we’ll be hearing something soon apparently:
“We’ll have to have somebody by Sept. 30, which is when we start shooting [his first] episode. So there is that timeline,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. “But it’s been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It’s just amazing — I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I’m sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it’s more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes.”
