Haven't You Heard I'm Sakamoto HeaderThe spring 2016 anime series Haven’t You Heard, I’m Sakamoto ran for its twelve episode run this past spring but had a planned thirteenth episode that didn’t make it on air due to the Kumamoto earthquake at the time and how that impacted broadcast coverage. With the episode slotted for the home video release next month in Japan, Crunchyroll has nabbed the streaming rights for it now and has added it to the service, giving fans a chance to bring the show to a close. It’s a full-length episode that keeps the fun running!

The anime adaptation has Shinji Takamatsu as the director with Atsuko Nakajima as character designer. It was animated at Studio DEEN.

The series comes from Nami Sano, their first formal work, which began serialization back in 2011 in the Fellows magazine. The series has four volumes out so far in Japan while Seven Seas Entertainment brought out the first volume of their adaptation out in August 2015.

The cast includes Akira Ishida as Yoshinobu Kubota, Tomokazu Sugita as Atsushi Maeda, Ken Takeuchi as Mario, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Kenken, Showtaro Morikubo as Yuuya Sera, Yui Horie as Aina Kuronuma, Mai Nakahara as Megumi Fujita, Yukari Tamura as Kana-chan, Kana Ueda as Mii-chan, Hitomi Nabatame as Yagi-san, Saki Fujita as Tanaka-san, Mikako Takahashi as Erika, Tomoaki Maeno as Morita, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Yasuda, Kujira as Shigemi Kubota, Masahito Yabe as Shigeru Kobayashi, Jouji Nakata as Kakuta-sensei, Kouji Yusa as 8823-senpai and Mitsuo Iwata as Fukase-san.

Plot concept: First year high school student Sakamoto isn’t just cool, he’s the coolest! Almost immediately after starting school, he began attracting everyone’s attention. The girls love him, and most of the boys resent him. There’s even a boy in the class who works as a model, but who is constantly upstaged by Sakamoto! No matter what tricks the other boys try to play on him, Sakamoto always manages to foil them with ease and grace. Though Sakamoto may seem cool and aloof, he helps others when asked, such as in the case of the boy in his class who was being constantly bullied. No matter what difficulties Sakamoto encounters, he moves through his high school life with confidence and class!

Japan’s Weekly Blu-ray & DVD Anime Rankings Ending September 25th, 2016

Qualidea Code Japanese Volume 1 CoverIt’s a weak week for the slate of anime releases landing on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan once again as little seems to break through to big numbers in general. The biggest seller on Blu-ray is the second Starmyu OVA, which isn’t a surprise considering the fans there, though that it did better than the DVD side is a bit surprising. New shows are slowly making their way out and we’re seeing how not-well they’re doing, such as Qualidea Code hitting 1,300 copies on Blu-ray and Hatsukoi Monster at 742 copies. Naria Girls does as poorly as expected with 418 copies. And while we didn’t expect much from Mahoutsukai Precure!, 963 copies does make you cringe a bit and wish they did box sets instead. The top of the DVD side is surprisingly One Piece as the latest collection that’s arrived hits just under 6,800 units, making it tops for the week.

pripara-episode-116As the third season of PriPara continues on since getting underway since the beginning of April, the promos from TV Tokyo continue to roll out to give us a taste of it. Shows like these tend to be the hardest to make their way overseas for a range of reasons, none of which makes the lack of them any less frustrating. The 116th episode is being queued up for an October 4th, 2016 debut from TV Tokyo and they’ve now cut loose the first promo for it – which we’ll warn you end up being taken down around the same time as the episode airs in Japan.

With animation production from Tatsunoko Production, the series is directed by Makoto Morikawa based on the series composition from Michihiro Tsuchiya and character designs by Shoji Hara. The series stars Himika Akaneya, Miyu Kubota, Saki Yamakita and Yuu Serizawa.

Plot concept: PriPara (Prism Paradise) is the successor to the popular Pretty Rhythm series. The new anime is set in the PriPara world, filled with girls’ dreams and yearnings for fashion, dance, and music. Every day, there are auditions that send top idols to worldwide fame on television and online. Manaka Laala is a 5th-grader at Paprika Academy. Like most girls, she admires the world of PriPara, but unfortunately for her, her school does not allow elementary school students to participate in PriPara. However, through miraculous circumstances, Laala passes the audition to become a PriPara idol.

‘Eromanga Sensei’ Anime Cast & Staff Slowly Grow

Eromanga Sensei - My Little Sister and the Locked RoomTsukasa Fushimi and Hiro Kanzaki’s manga series Eromanga Sensei – My Little Sister and the Locked Room revealed that an anime adaptation is in the works for the property way back in March of this year. With the manga kicking off back in December 2013 and with over six volumes of material, we’re pretty much on track for a standard single cour series. We learned previously that Akane Fujita is on board to play the main role of Sagiri Izumi, a role that she did with the visual drama that came out previously. Fujita hasn’t had a lot of roles overall since she began her career, but this marks her second leading role after playing Yuzuka Hanami in this season’s series Mahō Shōjo Nante Mō Ii Desu Kara.

Now, more of the cast has been revealed through a new Nico Nic Live stream event as the new addition includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Masamune Izumi.

We also got some of the staffing positions revealed with Ryohei Takeshita directing it while Tatsuya Takahashi is handling supervision of the scripts for the series.

A-1 Pictures will be producing the animation for this Aniplex production.

Plot concept: The story revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune’s little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn’t left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other’s only family.

Masamune’s novel illustrator, penname “Ero Manga Sensei,” draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed … that his “Ero Manga Sensei” is his own younger sister! To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival!

To save his friends and family from the invading spirits, Ushio is forced to release Tora from his captivity. But will the creature prove to be worse than the curse?

Silent Mobius Dybex HeadeOriginally released in 1991 and 1992, French distributor Dybex brought out the release of the two Silent Mobius films on Blu-ray back in January with what appears to be a limited run. They’ve now set a new release for November 30th, 2016 as a DVD/BD combo package, check out the packaging below, with a price of € 28.92. The films will be in their original Japanese language with French subtitles only. The films have had a haphazard release in North America over the years and were last released by Bandai Entertainment on DVD in the last decade. Both films are currently out of print in North America and have no formal license holder nor a Blu-ray release.

Plot concept: In a futuristic Tokyo, several policewomen fight a monster. One of them, Katsumi Liqueur, remembers where she saw it before… Katsumi Liqueur, an American-born woman of Japanese descent, travels to Tokyo to visit her mother, Fuyuka, who is sick in the hospital. She takes a shortcut through an alley after her taxi gets stuck in traffic, only to encounter a monster and two policewomen fighting it. Later, she meets their chief, Rally Cheyenne, who, it seems, has been expecting her, though Katsumi has never met her before. The policewomen want Katsumi to help them fight the monster, but Katsumi, who does not want to believe in magic, resists.
