Big Hero 6

Disney has set November 7th, 2014 as the release date previously for Big Hero 6, which is a loose interpretation of the Marvel Comics property, and now some more news has surfaced as the company lays out their 2014 plans. We had known previously that Don Hall was directing the feature but now we also know that Chris Williams has stepped in some time along the way to co-direct and that Roy Conli has been named a producer for it. The feature is a kind of odd project overall in that there’s been very little promotion and it’s uncertain how connected to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe it will be since it’s the first animated project from Disney feature films for a Marvel property.

Williams has some solid credits to bring to the production as he co-directed and co-wrote the script for Disney’s Oscar-nominated Bolt in 2008 and even did the voice work for the title character. His other credits including writing on Mulan, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Brother Bear.

Comic Concept: The astonishing return of Big Hero Six! Who, you ask? Why none other than Japan’s top heroes, defending the land of the rising sun in the name of the Emperor! Come join Hiro (the smartest boy in Japan), Baymax (his trusty robot companion), Honey Lemon (with her all-containing handbag), Gogo Tomago (somersaulting into an unstoppable energy ball)… plus, who are the Six’s two new members? When unknown super-villains strike Tokyo, BH6 is on the scene, and the stage is set for new adventure and a new series!
