Mortal Instruments – City Of Bones
Creating shorter special trailers with one of the stars doing the lead-in isn’t all that unusual – our Regal Cinemas does it on a fairly regular basis – and Sony has stepped up with a new one for Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, with Lily Collins doing the intro. And it’s probably needed considering some of the things going on with this genre this year. With two high profile flops so far this year in the young adult movie category, and the big one due in the fall with Catching Fire, there’s a bit of nervousness about the August release of Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. While I can attest to the fact that there are many tween and teenage girls eager for the film that lap up every new spot and trailer, considering the crash and burn that The Host and Beautiful Creatures went through, you have to understand the trepidation in general. That said, a new trailer has landed for the August 21st release of the film which stars Lily Collins, Lena Headey, Robert Sheehan, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kevin Zegers, Kevin Durand, Jared Harris, and CCH Pounder.
Plot concept: Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.
