While Hiro Mashima is known for his long running works with Rave and Fairy Tail, he’s also done a few other books along the way at the same time, albeit generally at a slower pace so as to not interfere with the bigger works that he’s well known for. With Fairy Tail ongoing still at forty-one volumes produced since beginning in 2006 and now a continuing anime series for it due out this year, he’s confirmed this weekend that he’s starting a new series in a different magazine than what Fairy Tail runs in and made it clear that that series is not over yet. The creator noted that he had worked on designing Fairy Tail while still working on Rave so it’s fairly standard practice in his mind to gestate some newer properties.
Interestingly, as the confirmation went out, Mashima appeared to have indicated that while he had a project in mind and things moving forward, it’s going to e started from scratch as he had watched an anime series who had a similar concept to what he was going to do and that meant going back to the drawing board. No details about what he watched was indicated nor is there any information on when and where he intends to bring out this new maga series.
