The LEGO Movie
With it being just a couple of weeks since release, Warner Bros. knows a good thing when it sees it as they’ve now scheduled a May 26th, 2017 release of a sequel to The LEGO Movie. The first feature has done about $151 million domestically and another $50 million overseas in fairly limited release so far and that’s all on the $60 million budget and a whopping $69 million opening weekend in the middle of February. With positive buzz all around and a serious number of LEGO sets themselves being scooped up both for the movie releases and other LEGO licensed sets, it’s win/win for everyone involved. No details have come out yet about who will be involved or if there were any firm locks in for a sequel with any of the creative side of the feature yet.
Phil Lord & Christopher Miller wrote the screenplay and directed, and Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Channing Tatum, Will Forte and Jonah Hill provided the voices.
