Strange+ Episode 8

Strange+ Episode 8

Wherein the show once again plays pervy.

What They Say:
Kou comes to a certain city, in search of his older brother Takumi, who ran away from home and disappeared. Thinking it’d be rather difficult to find his older brother, Kou decides not to go back until he finds him… but he ends up finding him immediately. However, when Kou is reunited with Takumi, he had become the head of the Mikuni Detective Agency. Takumi appears to have no intentions to go back home. Kou then decides that if his older brother isn’t going to come home, he’s going to stay at the Mikuni Detective Agency.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Cross dressing makes for some fun to be sure here as the gang do some “school” missions here and that has the guys dressing up and, well, really enjoying the whole experience of wearing the girls outfits. That makes for some fun and quick gags at first before everyone goes back to normal – mostly – and gets into the whole investigation about who is stealing women’s clothes at the school. It’s not exactly a mystery as the perp essentially assaults them but there’s lots of general silliness about fanservice, girls and high school that makes for some pervy and fetishistic moments. But like past episodes, it’s all about the quick hits and it does that fast and fun in a way that half the series has managed to do right.

In Summary:
Strange+ definitely can do wacky comedy well but where it’s largely failed for me in terms of comedy is that the episodes are very poor when it comes to the setup. Once again, it just wants to get to the gags, something that it does well, but would in the end do better if they were setup properly. This episode has some really amusing bits along the way but you’re sitting there at first trying to piece together the why of the gags and that in the end takes away from the gags. Even with simple perv gags.
