Saint Seiya

With Bandai Visual setting up for Saint Seiya to get a pair of Blu-ray boxes in Japan, there’s definitely renewed interest in the show. To add to that, Crunchyroll is now running a poll on their Facebook page asking whether fans want to see the original 114 episode series streamed on their service. Not surprisingly, the no votes don’t exist and of the 500+ responses so far, it’s very much a positive thing. The timing of this makes sense since it’s an easy way to draw attention to the property ahead of a potential streaming deal and may just give Toei the extra nudge to follow through on it since they’re kind of haphazard about their streaming schedules, but also because Saint Seiya Omega is about to come to a close. With that series doing good numbers and having a solid following on the service, drawing the fans back for the original makes a lot of sense.

Plot concept: Ages ago, the goddess Athena was served by fighters called Saints who channeled the power of the Cosmos within them. Now a youth named Seiya has trained to become a Saint himself by earning the mystical Cloth of Pegasus. He is joined by other Saints with Cloths of their own to fight for Athena.
