The official YouTube channel that Sunrise runs for its Gundam properties has done a bit of expansion recently as they forge a more global approach for their shows. With their current simulcast of Gundam Build Fighters, it initially launched with English language subtitles and Korean language subtitles, which has worked out well in giving the series a good reach. They recently began releases Hong Kong Simplified Chinese subtitles as well for the first three episodes with plans to add more. And now they’ve added another locale from the region with Thai subtitles starting to surface.
With direct control over their shows through this form, adding a number of older shows in their remastered form, with a lot of 35th Anniversary programs coming up, fans could get a pretty good front row see to what the Gundam franchise has to offer.
Plot concept: Sei Iori aims to participate in the Gunpla Battle Championship World Tournament, but despite his skill at building models, he can’t control them in battle. Then Sazaki challenges him to a Gunpla battle in order to get his hands on Sei’s high-performance Gunpla. Sei accepts the battle, thinking that if he can’t even beat Sazaki, then he’d be defeated instantly if he made it to the championship. But Sei is backed into a corner by Sazaki’s overbearing fighting style until the appearance of Reiji, a mysterious boy who he met earlier that day. Even though Reiji has never used Gunpla before, he overwhelms Sazaki’s Gunpla with his superb control technique. Sei builds, and Reiji battles. Thus the Gundam Build Fighters are born!
