With White Day here, Ichika is pretty pleased that Tomoya has given her something and he actually doe do the right thing. Amusingly, Fujisaki is getting a lot of stuff at school, which is impressive since she gave away so few things overall, but her dual personality makes for some amusing moments in how she views the whole thing. There’s some amusing competition that goes on with this, especially as the boys try to make sure that they get their return gift in first, but largely they just have a hard time understanding the mystery that is girls. For middle school students like this, we get a rather somber episode in some ways as they try to deal with love, what it means and when to say it – if to say it at all. Which is difficult for Tomoya since he has the really aggressive Ichika at his house that is just all over him constantly, skewing his view of things.
In Summary:
It’s been interesting to see the way the series has gotten kind of subdued since it started, where it was more intense and wacky in a way. Not that it’s a somber, character driven piece or anything, but it’s relaxed a bit and doesn’t quite go for the same kind of humor as it did at the beginning. It still works well, but part of me feels like it’s been diluted by so many characters at this point that it’s lost a bit of its spark and energy.
