So here’s an interesting if kind of complicated work that’s getting made into an anime adaptation. Ninja Slayer, which has a series of novels in Japan, has behind it a couple of fake American profiles about how it was essentially a found book or some such and it’s been given permission to be made into a series of web shorts and sound dramas, which you can see some of below. There’s no original English work here but rather something that plays with the meta aspect of things for the story. That’s more just the marketing style to set it apart from a slew of other novels to give it a different feeling and hopefully draw people in. The novels are published by Enterbrain and more details about the anime adaptation are set for April 11th and 12th which is when the latest novel is due out. Check out the teaser from Kadokawa below and the sound drama piece from Enterbrain.
Plot concept: The “cyberpunk ninja action drama” is set in the near-future city of Neo Saitama and follows Fujikido Kenji, a salaryman whose wife and children were killed in a ninja battle. Thus, he became a ninja slayer, devoted to killing all ninja to avenge his family.
